Problem
The correctional facility had an industrial epoxy floor system poorly installed a few years ago in the housing units. The floor was delaminating off the concrete, showing signs of a full structural failure. The facility needed these areas fixed with minimal downtime. Only one housing unit could be taken out of service at a time.
Solution
DUREX tested the concrete for moisture. The results indicated high risk of a moisture related failure, compounded by the fact that the slab was on grade. The existing floor was mechanically removed by DUREX. Next a fluid applied concrete moisture mitigation system was installed. Over the moisture system an decorative flake system was installed with chemical and abrasion resistant polyaspartic finish coats. The total turn around was 1 week per housing unit.
