Problem
After years of abuse from milk processing, the concrete in this facility became pitted and started to spall. A solution was required to repair and protect the concrete from future degradation. The Challenge was that the industrial floor treatment needed to be acid and impact resistant as well as moisture tolerant. A thin mil coating could not be used because of the impact resistance requirement. An epoxy-based system was also not appropriate because of the moisture concerns associated with slabs on grade resinous floor installations.
Solution
To address both the moisture and acid resistance, DUREX installed a urethane mortar floor system. The troweled floor system was installed at 1/4″ to repair the degradation from the milk processing method. the urethane flooring system will also mitigate the moisture present in the slab on grade application.
