Problem
A large scale produce processing facility was running out of space and built an addition. The addition added over 35,000 SF of production space to the current facility. The owner needed a heavy duty flooring product that will withstand the abuse of large scale food manufacturing for many years. The owner was not interested in any type of tile product as they have had issues with the grout collecting dirt/bacteria and disintegrating in their other facilities.
Solution
Durex proposed and installed an industrial urethane concrete topping. The concrete was mechanically prepared by bead blasting and diamond grinding. After the concrete prep work the full urethane concrete system was installed. Finally a chemical and abrasion resistant seal coat was applied. A non-skid additive was incorporated into the final seal coat to give the floor a slip-free finish. This product produces a heavy duty seamless floor finish that is free from any grout lines or areas that can collect bacteria due to erosion.
